About Derrick L James
I have 25+ years of experience as a mechanical and electro-mechanical engineer, in the paper machine, professional tool, food production, aerospace and defense, medical device, and energy management industries. I earned a BA in general studies from Beloit College, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. In my 25+ years in engineering, the phase of product development that I have always enjoyed most is the concept generation phase. The other phases are also interesting, challenging, and rewarding, and are necessary for proper execution of the concept generated. However concept generation is the most fun for me. I've always wished I could live in that phase. Thus the reason for launching DLJ ideations. I get to focus on what I enjoy most!
